Roma chief Mauro Baldissoni: Difficult sacking Rudi Garcia

Roma chief Mauro Baldissoni says they were unhappy sacking Rudi Garcia.

Luciano Spalletti kicked off his return with a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona.

“The players have to take us back to the top," Baldissoni told Mediaset Premium.

“When you change Coach, it means something wasn't going right and we are trying to resolve the problem. It's ultimately down to the players to express themselves in the best way, something they haven't always done on a psychological level.

“We want to see aggression, determination and the desire to impose their superior quality on the opposition. We chose Spalletti because we believe he is the right man to continue this solid project into the future.

“We had asked Garcia to coach the way he had done in the past. His Press conference before the Palermo game was down to stress.

“He had started the season with confidence and a competitive squad, but the results made difficulties clear and we decided to change.

“It is a defeat for the club to change Coach."
