Roma captain Totti: I almost joined Real Madrid

Roma captain Francesco Totti admits he came close to joining Real Madrid.

Totti is a favourite of Real president Florentino Perez, who tried several times to land the Italian World Cup winner during his first spell in charge.

Under coach Fabio Capello and also general manager Arrigo Sacchi, Perez attempted to bring Totti to Madrid.

The Roma midfielder confirmed last night: "On one occasion I was very close to signing for Real Madrid. I was ready to move to Spain."

Real dont deserve such a great player like Totti. U r my favourite of all time.
