Roma captain Totti full of pride over new contract

Roma captain Francesco Totti has again declared how happy he is with his new contract.

"For me, it's a strange day. To be given a prize by the Mayor makes me very happy. I would like to once again thank Rosella Sensi who still believes in me and has renewed my contract," Totti said.

"I now have the chance to break new records. Within five years I will see you here again. I would like to thank everyone; the city, the Mayor, the fans and all the people present here today.

"It is the most important prize that I have ever received. I will always carry this day inside of me."

Totti then admitted he is yet to sign a new deal.

"I am only missing the pen. It's imminent," he added before going on to outline Roma's plans for their first competitive game of the season against Gent in the Europa League.

"We hope to play a good game and try and close the discussion on qualification as soon as possible even if it will not be easy.

"We will face the Belgian side with the right determination and the desire to do well and better than last year."
