AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has defended teammate Daniele de Rossi after last week's Champions League blow-up.
De Rossi has been strongly criticised after he was caught on camera throwing an elbow at Shakhtar Donetsk full-back Darijo Srna.
He is expected to receive a three or four match ban once UEFA review the incident retrospectively.
"I am close to Daniele in this moment of difficulty," said Totti. "I too have been through situations like these, but I am sure that he is the first to know that he was wrong.
"You suffer even more when you want to give a contribution to the team, but the results don't come. The passion and the love with which Daniele wears the Roma shirt should never be put in discussion."
