Roma boss Montella defends tactics after blowing 2-0 lead

AS Roma boss Vincenzo Montella defended his tactics after their 2-2 draw with Parma.

Roma blew a 2-0 lead to only take a point from the Serie A strugglers.

"The statistics say that Roma have now conceded 24 goals in the last half-hour of their games," said Montella.

"Those who work in football understand this is not a psychological problem. Up until Amauri's first goal, Parma hadn't had a shot on target. We need to raise the tempo, though it's difficult when playing every three days."

David Pizarro was stretchered off in evident pain in first half stoppages and from then on it was a different game.

"We'll see what the medical tests say tomorrow and hope it is nothing serious," continued Montella, who played the Chilean despite his notorious injury problems.

"You could tell how much we missed him in the second half. He is a player who sets the tempo and also brings a great deal of quality to the side.

"Pizarro has characteristics that are essential for my style of football and we do not have a natural replacement. I would make every decision again."
