Roma and MLS on verge of forming working relationship

Italian club AS Roma and Major League Soccer are working together to form a partnership for the future.

The Giallorossi were the side chosen to take on the MLS All-Stars in this season's exhibition match and it has emerged that the relationship is not set to end with that one event.

American businessman James Pallotta, who heads the group that owns the Serie A club, announced at last week's Bloomberg Sports Business Summit in New York that plans were in place to form a working partnership with MLS.

"Don [Garber, MLS Commissioner] and I have spoken about this, we are looking forward to having a relationships where similar to what goes on in Europe in terms of not just transfer markets but loaning players," he said.

"At some point, we want to have a very close relationship with all the teams in MLS in the US where we can do that with our players as we do with some of the other countries."
