Liverpool striker David Ngog is ready to pledge his international future to Cameroon.
The People says the Paris-born striker has been capped by France at five junior levels, including Under-21.
However, Ngog's parents hail from Cameroon, and the west African country's FA are hoping to convince him to play for them rather than France.
That would spell bad news for Anfield boss Roy Hodgson, with the striker placed at increased risk of injury and travel fatigue.
Cameroon football legend Roger Milla, who played at the 1982, 1990 and 1994 World Cups, added: "We need to snap up Ngog as soon as possible.
"Otherwise we risk losing him, as France are looking out for strikers as well. It's up to us to convince him."
