Jack Rodwell insists Sunderland just need three points to get their season underway.
The Black Cats go into Saturday's game against Stoke City at the Stadium of Light having lost just one of their first six matches, although they are yet to notch their first league victory.
Rodwell said: "If we get that (first win), we can look back and think it has been quite a good start really - we have only lost one, we will have eight points on the board and we should be in a decent position in the table.
"So one win is all we need at the moment.
"But as long as we stay solid, we have to remain positive."
