Jack Rodwell insists he's not wasting his career at Manchester City.
Sunderland winger Adam Johnson claimed they would not play regularly but Under-21 hero Rodwell says the club is perfect for him.
Rodwell, who this summer went to City from Everton for £15m, said: "I'm young and English. I've not got a bad word to say about City. If they want you and sign you, then they have got intent for you.
"I was not guaranteed a starting place at Everton. I had a lot of injuries, Darron Gibson and Marouane Fellaini were in form, so it was a push for me to get in that side.
"But when the champions come knocking, it's hard to refuse."
