Rodwell happy to compete for place in crowded Man City midfield

Jack Rodwell has no problem fighting for a place in Manchester City's crowded midfield.

Rodwell joined City in a £15million move from Everton last summer but found his chances of regular first-team football hampered by injury problems and a back-up role in Roberto Mancini's squad.

The 22-year-old told mcfc.co.uk: "I'm fit, I've been training hard and I'm feeling great but I'll just have to be patient and wait for my chance which I'm sure will come along soon.

"With the players we've got at this club you have to expect to miss some games and even if I get a run of games and play really well, I'd still expect to be rested from time to time because you can't expect every player to play every minute."
