Rodwell admits Everton frustrated in Man Utd defeat

Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell admitted frustration after defeat to Manchester United.

Everton, who have now lost five in six games in all competitions, were left to bemoan their luck.

After being edged out by Chelsea in extra time in the Carling Cup in midweek, the Toffees again fell just short and slipped back to 16th in the table.

Rodwell said: "We did deserve more. In the second half, especially, they stepped off the pace a bit and we had a lot of possession but unfortunately we didn't manage to capitalise on it.

"A lot of the lads played 120 minutes on Wednesday so it was going to be a tiring game for us.

"But we dug deep and we just didn't quite manage to get the goal in the end. The lads worked hard and showed a lot of energy.

"It was fine margins. We had a couple of chances and hopefully in the next game we can take those chances against Newcastle next week.

"We haven't played too badly against United or Chelsea so we will go to Newcastle full of confidence."
