Rodriguez thanks Southampton boss Pochettino for showing faith

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has owed his recent run of scoring form to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 23-year old former Burnley man has scored three goals in his past four outings under the Argentine and feels the faith shown in him by the new boss has allowed him to flourish for the Saints.

"The new manager has helped massively. He's put faith in me to be playing regular games. My role is a lot more free now - it doesn't matter where I drift off to," he told talkSPORT.

"We play a high-tempo game and we press high; that suits me. We are obviously winning, too, which is a good feeling.

"The results that we are getting are obviously good but the performances we are putting in are even better. We have deserved the points and the wins that we have been getting.

"Since January, I've gained a lot of belief. I've had a run of games since then so I feel a lot more comfortable."
