Villarreal defender Gonzalo Rodriguez was delighted to make his first start since suffering a knee injury last year in their draw with Real Mallorca.

The Argentina international said: "I am very happy returning to play, to be able to play for 90 minutes and I feel like I was yesterday. I'm much better than expected, as I was able to play 90 minutes without any problem and that was very important for me.

"Now my intention and my hope is to continue playing."
