Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has told the club's owners their transfer policy is flawed. Kop owners Fenway Sports Group have focused their transfer policy on bringing in young guns.
But Rodgers insists an old head - such as Robin van Persie at Manchester United - is just as vital to get Liverpool back among the big guns.
Rodgers admitted: "There are certain times when you need that experience.
"Look at Van Persie. Bring him in at 29 and there's no question he is reviving Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, and has also given the young players a boost, too.
"So it's not just about bringing in experienced players for their benefit, it's what they can do for others."
