Brendan Rodgers was disappointed with the amount of errors his Liverpool side made in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Hull City at the KC Stadium.
Steven Gerrard netted for the Reds in the 27th minute to make it 1-1 after Jake Livermore's opener but David Meyler's 72nd-minute effort and an own-goal from Martin Skrtel three minutes from time gave the Tigers maximum points at home.
After the match, Rodgers felt his side's effort and willing were there but says that mistakes led to the loss which has the Anfield club now sitting seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
"I thought that we had plenty of effort and commitment which I always get from the team but we just made too many mistakes today," he told Sky Sports.
"Defensively as a team we made too many mistakes and obviously with the ball I don't think we created enough so it was a very, very disappointing result all round.
"We arrived into here our confidence and belief high. We didn't pass the ball well, we gave it away very quickly and we found ourselves a goal behind which was disappointing.
"We had plenty of possession but there was no real penetration with the team and that's something that we'll obviously look to put right for Wednesday (against Norwich City at Anfield)."
