Rodgers pleased with Wales's handling of Swansea's Taylor

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is grateful for how Wales handled Neil Taylor's ankle injury. Taylor picked up the injury in Swansea's goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield, but Wales coach Gary Speed resisted the temptation to play the 22-year-old in the national side's 4-1 win over Norway at the weekend.

And Rodgers said: "I thanked Gary. I spoke to him on the Sunday after the game.

"He took a knock against Liverpool, and he did great to get through the game. He then met up with the Wales squad but Gary understood it was a friendly and if he had played it may have injured him further.

"It was a sensible call and he has come back in and looks fine."
