Rodgers: Liverpool's win over Burnley as good as Man City triumph

Brendan Rodgers felt Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Burnley on Wednesday was a brilliant display.

The victory at Anfield was the Reds' fourth in a row, extending their unbeaten streak to 12 matches, and manager Rodgers believes it bettered the 2-1 triumph over reigning premiers Manchester City on Sunday.

"We controlled the tempo of the game and whatever we had to deal with defensively we did," he said.

"As good as the performance was at the weekend this was equally as good."

Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge scored either side of the break to give fifth-placed Liverpool their 15th win of the campaign which has them poised for a tilt at a top-four finish.
