Rodgers lauds Liverpool's 'outstanding team performance'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for his team after they progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Reds edged Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park in the quarter-final replay on Wednesday night which prompted an extremely positive reaction from a very proud boss.

"I thought we played very well, both in attack and our defending was very strong," said Rodgers at the post-match press conference.

"Of course you have some moments when the ball is going long into your box, but I thought we stood up to that incredibly well and our positioning and possession was good in the game on a difficult field.

"It was an outstanding team performance, the players deserve a huge amount of credit and they achieved what we wanted to - which was to get to the semi-final."

Philippe Coutinho's sublime 70th-minute goal was enough to send Liverpool through to the final four where they will meet Aston Villa at Wembley on April 19.
