Rodgers insists 'no embarrassment' despite worst ever defeat for Celtic

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insisted that his team's defeat against Gibraltar minnows Lincoln Red Imps was not an embarrassment for the club.

The Celts were overwhelming favourites ahead of the first leg of the Champions League qualifier but ended up losing the tie 1-0 to the side ranked 451st in Europe.

Despite it being arguably Celtic's worst ever result, Rodgers was remaining positive.

Rodgers said: "There is obvious disappointment but there is no embarrassment.

"It was a tough game in tough conditions. We didn't take our chances, they took their chance.

"We know where we need to strengthen the squad. We want more goals, not just from Leigh Griffiths."

Rodgers added: "We stay calm. The result here complicates it a bit for us but it's still very early.

"Over the course of the two games, if we didn't get through, I would have a concern of course."

Celtic will host Lincoln at Parkhead in the return bout of the second qualifying round next week.
