Rodgers insists: I am the best man for Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers is confident that he is the right man to continue on as Liverpool manager.

The Northern Irish tactician's job at Anfield has been under question in recent times as it became apparent that the Reds would go through the season without any silverware.

Liverpool were inches away from winning the Premier League title last season but now find themselves sitting fifth and seven points away from a top-four finish.

When speaking at the signing of Jordan Henderson's five-year deal, Rodgers played down claims that he was set for the Anfield exit door anytime soon.

"Very much so. I don't think there is anyone better. That's the reality of how I see it," said Rodgers when asked if he would at Liverpool next term.

"Three months ago I was a tactical genius, performing to a good level. We lost some important games and now I'm not so good. That's football, people will speculate.

"When you're at a club like Liverpool you will have many names mentioned - that's the mark of being at such a huge club, a worldwide club.

"It's not a problem. It's something that happens. If you lose a couple of games, others will be linked with the job.

"That will happen whether I'm doing good, bad or indifferent because this is such a big club."
