Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists they can rescue their season in the next week.

After meeting Newcastle at Anfield tomorrow Liverpool have an FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

Rodgers insists: "This year we wanted to win a trophy and we are doing everything to achieve that.

"If we can win the FA Cup it will be another stride forward and hopefully we can push on in every competition.

"Sometimes you have to go through bad times to become a winner."
