Rodgers excited about new Liverpool arrivals

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said today he is happy with the work the club has done during the transfer window thus far. The Anfield club have signed Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, Ivory Coast centre-half Kolo Toure as a free agent and Spanish attacking pair Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas from Sevilla and Celta Vigo respectively and although Rodgers is thrilled with the additions, he is looking to strengthen his squad even further.

"All the new players have fitted in very, very well," he said from Melbourne.

"We try to choose players with a certain profile who can come in and operate, and work and play, and those players have got that as well as the personality to play for a club like Liverpool.

"The keeper, Simon Mignolet, has been excellent since he's been in. He's really assured, he's one of the top keepers in the Premier League.

"Kolo Toure speaks for himself, his experience and quality on and off the pitch.

"Luis Alberto is one that is for now but also for the future, he's a terrific talent. And Aspas has got goals in the top level in Spain.

"He's very much like Luis Suarez in that he is a fighter and he gets goals. So those four players have improved the squad and between now and the end of window we will look to improve it more."
