Rodgers disappointed over Swansea Monk sacking

Former Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers was disappointed with the sacking of Garry Monk.

Monk was sacked in December, just months after leading the club to their highest Premier League finish.

Rodgers told Sky Sports: "I think Garry was probably unfortunate to lose his job. We have seen the expectancy on managers. It just came out of the blue really. But no one knows the club better than Alan Curtis.

"He is a great guy, a great man, he will be supportive of the players. But they will know they have a fight between now and the end of this season, which is a shame because they have always been fairly comfortable in the league.

"It's a wonderful club. Huw Jenkins (the chairman) is a great man, Martin Morgan (the owner) and the guys that run the club have always made the right decisions. They will see Alan (Curtis) as the best one at this time to save them and then look at it in the summer."
