Brendan Rodgers was left to rue Liverpool's performance in their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Reds were beaten by Ayoze Perez's 73rd-minute goal at St James' Park to fall to seventh place on the Premier League table and the overall showing of the Merseysiders was something that did not really impress their manager.
"I didn't think we deserved to lose the game, but we didn't do enough to win it. We had enough of the ball, we had good movement in front of the ball, we just lacked maybe that wee bit of creativity and invention in the final third of the field," said Rodgers.
"Anything we had to deal with until the goal, we dealt well with defensively, there were no real issues.
"But we made a mistake and the mistake, unfortunately, has cost us the game and that's the biggest disappointment of it all."
Liverpool will now prepare for Tuesday's vital Champions League clash with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
