Brendan Rodgers admits it was a thrill to give Trent Alexander-Arnold his first taste of senior Liverpool action on the weekend.
The 16-year-old right-back started in the 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Swindon Town on Sunday and performed admirably before being replaced by Daniel Cleary prior to the hour-mark.
While Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to be given too many chances during the upcoming Premier League season but is certainly a player the Reds will be looking to in the future.
Rodgers told the club's official website: "Trent impressed me last year; he came up as a schoolboy and played in a practice match and did very well.
"I always had that in the back of my mind and when we needed someone to bring in, it was good for him to get the chance."
