Rodgers could call on Cole as Liverpool get set for Udinese

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Joe Cole is back in the mix for first team selection.

The 30-year old midfielder, who spent last season on loan with Lille, has been restricted to just two appearances this season because of a hamstring injury but Rodgers suggests he could be called on for tomorrow night's Europa League clash with Udinese at Anfield.

"His attitude is superb and Joe really thinks he can contribute to the group, which is great. He has been unfortunate," said Rodgers.

"He has been out and came back a couple of times, but did not quite really get through fitness-wise.

"He was out for eight weeks, trained for a couple of weeks, had his first game (in the U21 team), scored a good goal and now he is fit. He is back into training now and looking to fight for a place in the squad.

"He loves his football, Joe, and he is now fit enough to fight for his position in the group."
