Rodgers confident of long-term support from Liverpool owners

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is convinced the club's owners will back him for the long-term.

Rodgers says he has learned to read the danger signs during a career that has taken him from Chelsea's youth team to Watford, Reading and Swansea before FSG asked him to rebuild the club they bought two years ago.

"I told them that if they wanted a quick fix then I wasn't their man," said Rodgers.

"Because of the experience I had at Chelsea and then Reading, I wouldn't have come to Liverpool without assurances.

"I knew that it was a case of building something and then, after two or three years, going on with the next challenge.

"The owners knew it was going to be a process. They know it is going to take time and that there'll be a bit of pain along the way.

"I've got to say that FSG have been brilliant with me. Even after we've lost games, I've woken up the next morning and got a message or an email, saying, 'Listen, you're doing a fantastic job, it will take time.'"
