The Daily Star says Fergie was left stunned by United’s capitulation to bitter rivals Manchester City in Sunday’s 6-1 derby defeat at Old Trafford.
He will now push to splash out £40 million to sign Sneijder.
The Holland and Inter Milan ace has been a long-term target of Fergie’s. He spent the whole of last summer trying to sign him but failed to thrash out a deal with the Italian giants.
The Scot was left frustrated as United refused to meet Inter’s asking price while Sneijder was demanding in excess of £200,000 a week.
But Fergie remains a big fan of the midfield schemer and knows he would be the ideal replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired in the summer.
