Rocchi delighted with famous Lazio brace

Tommaso Rocchi was delighted with his double for Lazio in last night's famous 2-1 Champions League victory over Werder Bremen.

Rocchi's first came after Werder goalkeeper Tim Wiese saved his penalty as converted the rebound.

"Unfortunately the ball is very heavy when it's a decisive penalty! It was a match we had to win at all costs," said Rocchi afterwards. "Usually a shot like that stops and stays there, but I launched myself at it more with my desire to score than anything else and it went well."

Bremen protested against the goal and Rocchi confesses he too waited for a moment before celebrating.

"Clearly I got the ball, but the 'keeper tried to put his hand on there and so it was possible the referee would whistle for a foul.

"It was very similar to what happened to us at the weekend against Fiorentina, so it is swings and roundabouts, really."

Rocchi doubled his tally when running on to a splendid Mourad Meghni searching pass, but it was a tense finale following Diego's spot-kick and Emilson Sanchez Cribari's dismissal.

"The second goal was a good move and gave us the sense of safety we needed to relax and look after the situation. We didn't manage that terribly well, as there were some worrying moments at the end, but we got the result."
