Robson: Wilshere happier playing for Hodgson than Arsenal

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson says the club is to blame for Jack Wilshere's problems.

Robson believes the club were not beneficial to Wilshere's development, both medically and on the pitch.

“There's talk of West Ham, there's talk of Southampton," he said of Wilshere's next club on ESPN FC.

“It's a shame because he was a very, very good player.

“He's had lots of injuries, I don't think he looked after himself particularly well, I don't think the club looked after him particularly well.

“I know that they didn't look after him particularly well, both on the medical side and in terms of teaching him the game.

“When he played for England under (Roy) Hodgson and he played as the holding midfield player, he looked a far better player than he ever did when he was playing for Arsenal because he was given a role and he was disciplined.

“He was a good footballer, he's got great talent but he doesn't read the game.

"He doesn't understand how to defend and he doesn't make the right decisions.

“It's the best thing for him to get away."
