Former PSV Eindhoven coach Sir Bobby Robson has urged Steve McClaren not to buy English players while in charge of FC Twente.

"I never took anybody to work with me and I never bought an English player all the time I was away," he told The Times. "I felt I should keep faith with what was already there and if they were good enough, why change? I'd recommend that to Steve, to immerse himself in the Dutch fraternity."
