Robson: Man Utd had to act on Moyes with summer market looming

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson can understand the sacking of David Moyes.

Robson admits he was surprised by the timing of the decision but agrees that the club had to be sure the right manager was in place as they prepare to spend up to £200million on new signings.

"I believe that when you're an owner or director or chairman of a club, you have to make strong decisions," he said.

"If you have got that amount of money to spend on players, you have to be 100 per cent sure that the person or people within the club who are going to be spending that money are doing it in the correct manner.

"If you don't make the right decisions with that money, that's when clubs get themselves in big trouble.

"Whether that will be the fact with David we'll never know because the club have made their decision, but the money made available in the summer has to be spent wisely."
