In his column for the Mail on Sunday, Robson wrote: "I have always said that the best player I ever managed was the Brazilian Ronaldo when he was in his pomp at Barcelona.
"The biggest compliment I can pay Torres is that at times against (Manchester) United he reminded me of Ronaldo.
"From the moment, he sensed Nemanja Vidic was dwelling on the ball, there was no doubt in Torres's mind he was going to score. He has such pace and finesse, he makes scoring goals look easy at times.
"There was a time you knew Ronaldo, when he was going through one-on-one, would score. It was the same with Torres when he saw Edwin van der Sar ahead of him.
"You knew what was coming and Torres provided a brilliant finish."
