Paul Robinson showed his frustration at West Brom's plight during their 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.
The Daily Mail says Robinson's criticism that his team-mates have not been showing sufficient heart may have had the desired effect.
The defender showed his passion, booting a seat in the dug-out after manager Tony Mowbray substituted him near the end.
Skipper Jonathan Greening said: "We all know what Robbo's like. He wears his heart on his sleeve. We have been in two relegation scraps here. We've won one and lost one. Both myself and Robbo know which one feels better. Some of the boys haven't tasted that disappointment."
