Robinho has explained why he chose to join Real Madrid ahead of Barcelona when leaving Santos.

The Brazilian is now playing in Turkey with Sivasspor.

He recalled: "It may seem hard to explain, but it is not.

"Real was the club that showed the most interest in me at the time. Both clubs are fantastic and have millions of fans around the world. But when Real came to me, knowing that there was a large Brazilian community like coach (Vanderlei) Luxemburgo, I thought why go to Barça?"
