Robinho was seeking £4 million-a-year and Real's offer of £2.5 million rising to £3 million over five years fell well short of expectations.

Despite the deadlock, Mijatovic and his fellow Real directors are convinced Robinho would prefer to stay in Madrid than accept a mega bucks move to Chelsea.
