Roberts wants more Blackburn playing time in New Year

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts is looking to start more Premier League matches in the second half of the season. The experienced hit-man is frustrated he has not been given a greater role up front so far this term and is ready to reward Allardyce if he is given an extended run.

"I've not played as much as I'd have liked," he told skysports.com.

"Certainly I want to play more. I guess we'll have a look at things.

"I've not played as much as I'd have liked so it's been a hard situation for me. I want to play more. I feel more like I've got a lot more to give.

"I've scored three goals in 10 starts and I scored seven goals in 20 starts last year.

"Goals-wise I feel good it's just a case of we're using different systems for different games and stuff like that.

"It can be frustrating, but all you can do is your best when you're given the opportunity. I prefer to play as much as possible.

"Last year was really pressurised knocking around at the bottom, so this year we don't want to do that. It's a big month for us."
