Veteran striker Jason Roberts has been rewarded by Reading with a new contract.

The 34-year old, who joined the Royals from Blackburn Rovers on an 18-month deal in January, has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until 2014.

Roberts scored six goals in 17 appearances as Reading won the Championship title last season and his Premier League experience will be invaluable as Brian McDermott prepares his squad for the top flight.
