Jason Roberts will miss Reading's first mach back in the Premier League next season because of suspension.
The 34-year old striker has received a three-match ban for violent conduct after catching Crystal Palace's Jonathan Parr with an elbow to the head on the weekend.
Championship title winners Reading have confirmed they will not contest the ban which will see Roberts miss the final regular season match against Birmingham City on Saturday and the opening two top flight fixtures next term.
"Brian McDermott (Reading manager) maintained at the time that the contact was an accident, but similarly he retains great faith in his squad and whoever comes into the team this weekend will no doubt perform in the same manner as our entire squad of champions has done all season long.""With contact being made in the original incident, the club did not think there was a good chance of a successful appeal, and with the possibility of a further one-game ban if the appeal was deemed frivolous, the club did not want to take an unnecessary risk," read a statement on the club's official website.
