Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts looked to be on an outer at Ewood Park under the old regime of Sam Allardyce but has now been offered a fresh contract with new boss Steve Kean. The 32-year-old had been widely expected to leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.
Roberts had been at loggerheads with previous manager Sam Allardyce, who had frozen him out of the team.
Leicester, QPR, Wigan and several overseas teams had expressed an interest in signing the Grenada international this month.
Kean is believed to have been particularly impressed with his professionalism during his stand-off with Allardyce.
