Roberto Mancini explains walking away from Inter Milan

Roberto Mancini has explained his decision to leave Inter Milan.

Mancini walked away on the eve of the new season.

“We found an agreement for a mutual termination because, in my opinion, there was no basis to work calmly," Mancini explained to Sky Italia.

“Then there's enough chaos when you're in the middle of a takeover. In those moments it was essential for us to work on our project, which the year before had seen us top for 20 rounds and then always in the top four.

“We had to keep working down that road.

“This was the year when we could have fought with Juventus, doing the things I was thinking of maybe we would have finished second.

“Suning? The Zhang family has the means to invest, but it's not easy to make history.

“The biggest mistake was getting rid of [director general Marco] Fassone, who was a reference point."
