Roberto Firmino delivers vital winner for Liverpool at West Brom

Roberto Firmino struck the winner as Liverpool won 1-0 at West Brom on Sunday.

The Brazil striker headed in at the end of the first half after Lucas Leiva had glanced on James Milner's free-kick.

The Baggies up to that point had been largely in control despite the Reds enjoying the lion's share of possession.

The visitors had the better of the second half, but were unable to add to their advantage.

James Milner blazed over the crossbar from close range before Divock Origi saw a close-range header disallowed due to Firmino straying offside shortly after the hour.

However, Liverpool needed Simon Mignolet to make a late save with his legs as Matt Phillips burst through to shoot to take all three points home.

Alberto Moreno had a golden opportunity to put the result beyond doubt at the death when Ben Foster went up for a corner, leaving his goal wide open, but he missed the target.

Victory was enough to see Liverpool climb above Manchester City into third as they keep up the pressure on Manchester United and Arsenal to catch them in the closing weeks of the season.
