Corinthians wing-back Roberto Carlos has told fans not to discount the possibility of AS Roma striker Adriano joining in January.
Both Adriano and his family have insisted in recent days that he will be playing out the season in Italy.
But Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos revealed: "Again, everything is possible. It's better to wait until January because of the things I've learned talking to some people.
"Unfortunately I cannot make this information available, which I know is annoying. But the intention is to repeat what was done with Ronaldo in 2008, he and the club said that there was no negotiation, and then announced the transfer.
"When Ronaldo was with Corinthians, he continued to say he was a fan of Santos. Adriano will not say he has an agreement with Corinthians or with Flamengo, but I know this could happen.
"But while we're at the end of year and holiday time, I will not create too many expectations for fans."
