Manchester United legend Bryan Robson is convinced Louis van Gaal will bring title glory back to the club.
Van Gaal has accomplished his first mission at Old Trafford by delivering a top four Premier League finish - and with it the opportunity to secure a place in next season's Champions League group stage.
"Having watched Louis van Gaal at work this season I am absolutely convinced he is the right man to take United forward," Robson told the Sunday Mirror.
"He is very focused on what he wants and how he wants to go about it. He has given the players a very clear direction that he expects them to follow.
"I can see the similarities with Alex Ferguson - the same strong leadership and way of going about things. You always knew where you stood with the boss [Ferguson]. If anybody stepped out of line he would be down on him, get him out of the team and even move him on.
"I think finishing in the top four makes it a decent first season for Van Gaal. He came in off the back of the World Cup [where he steered Holland to third place] and no matter how often you see players on TV, you don't know them until you work with them.
"He was unlucky with so many injuries and the form of [summer signings] Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria. Falcao was worth a punt and Di Maria had a blistering start. The break-in at his home must have affected him. If he stays, he could start afresh next season. The other signings have done okay."
