Sydney FC defender Matthew Jurman has revealed that a high rating by Brisbane Roar coach Ange Postecoglou convinced him to join the 2010/11 Premier's Plate winners.
The 22-year old centre-half will join the Roar after Sydney's Asian Champions League group stage campaign and said that it was the faith shown by the Roar that led to him signing with the club.
''It all happened really quickly,'' he said. ''I've waited all season to play, and then got my chance, took it, and everything seemed to happen from there.
"It's been amazing. Ange spoke to me and said he wanted me to replace Luke (DeVere), and that he wanted to work on improving me.
"Hopefully, I can put my head down and that's what happens. But I'm still at Sydney, I'm still focused on doing well for them, and hopefully we can do well in the ACL. It's been a hard season but hopefully we can bring a bit of glory for the fans.''
And Jurman said it was the lure of again working with his former Australian U17 coach Postecoglou that helped make his decision.
"No doubt, the fact that Ange Postecoglou is there was a big drawcard. I've worked with him once before, and you know he's a fantastic manager. I think what he's done at Brisbane is brilliant,'' he added.
''A lot of young players are getting a go up there, and I feel like I've got a better chance of getting more game time than I do at Sydney.''
