Roar coach Farina: We couldn't fit Minniecon under cap

Queensland Roar coach Frank Farina was full of praise for winger Tahj Minniecon after their 4-3 win at Central Coast Mariners. The winger, who has signed with Gold Coast United for $130,000-a-year next season, led Mariners left-back Dean Heffernen a merry dance for much of the game in a goal scoring performance.

Minniecon was assisted by a woefully disorganised Mariners defence, but Farina said: "I thought Tahj was man-of-the match - he was just outstanding."

Farina reiterated the Roar had no chance of matching Gold Coast's lucrative offer to Minniecon.

"That's the reality of football. The offer that the Gold Coast made Tahj, we could not fit it in our cap - it's as simple as that."

Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna lamented his side's misfortune at catching Minniecon on arguably the best display of his fledgling career.

"Sometimes he's hot, sometimes he's cold and he was on fire tonight," McKinna said.
