Riyad Mahrez: I've joined Man City to improve them

Riyad Mahrez feels he can help improve Manchester City following his arrival this week.

City unveiled their new record £60million signing on Thursday, and Mahrez is confident he can add to Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions.

“What they did, it was amazing," he said. “They broke all the records in the Premier League, which is unbelievable. I never thought about these things. I'm very confident about myself and I hope to help this team to improve.

“I don't like to talk about myself, I'll let others do that. I'm here to help the squad to improve. The most important things is to try to help the team win games and win trophies."

Mahrez, 27, went AWOL when Leicester refused to sell him to Man City in January, but claims there is no bad blood between him and the Foxes after eventually sealing his move and signing a five-year contract.

“They offered and Leicester rejected the offers," he said. “I spent four-and-a-half years there so, of course, it was very difficult to go from there. But, yes, I left on good terms. Now I'm here and I'm very happy. It's in the past and we're looking forward now."
