River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio has expressed interest in bringing back Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao.

Falcao is on-loan at Chelsea from AS Monaco, but is expected to be on the move again this summer.

D'Onofrio admits River are keen and made contact with Falcao over the New Year.

"That was to see if he was thinking of coming back," said the president.

"We have had contact through mutual friends, yes, but the choice is up to him. At the time he said he wanted to try to still make it in Europe. He can say this, it's his career.

"Andrés D'Alessandro and Fernando Cavenaghi came back, but I'll understand if Falcao does not.

"He now plays for big clubs and gets paid extremely well."
