River Plate goalkeeper Augusto Battala admits he turned down Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Battala was expected to join Real this year, but has decided to remain with River.

"Rejecting Real Madrid was a very personal, very difficult decision," he conceded.

"I talked with my family and they supported me. Sometimes, a decision is made for choosing good roads and the conviction that one has to choose the path you go through.

"My decision was to stay and continue for a club that has given me everything."
