Ritchie shocked by Clark sacking at Huddersfield

Andy Ritchie was shocked by Huddersfield's decision to sack Lee Clark.

Ritchie spent 12 months in charge at the Galpharm before being sacked in April 2008 - with a 43 per cent win ratio.

And the former Manchester United striker, 51, said: "I thought that wasn't too shabby, but it's nothing like as good as Lee's record.

"I was absolutely floored when I heard Lee had been sacked. It's crackers, just plain daft and there seems to be no logic to it all.

"Over the past 12 months, Lee had lost three of 55 league games and had guided Huddersfield to a new League record of 43 matches unbeaten.

"And that narrow defeat by Sheffield United was their first in 10 league games.

"Lee must have the best record of any manager in the country over the last year or so, yet he loses his job."
